In
 line with the ongoing flight route expansion program and efforts to 
meet customers’ demands in Surabaya & Bandung, on Friday, February 
10, 2012, Garuda Indonesia officially opened the Surabaya–Bandung vv. 
service, which is also connected to the Surabaya-Denpasar and 
Surabaya–Makassar. The new service allows the public to travel between 
the connected cities, for business of leisure.
The 
inauguration flight was held at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya 
and was officiated by Vice Governor of East Java, Saifullah Yusuf and 
Garuda Indonesia’s EVP Marketing & Sales, M. Arif Wibowo, and the 
plane’s arrival at Husein Sasteranegara Airport in Bandung was welcomed 
by West Java Governor, Ahmad Heryawan.
Garuda 
Indonesia serves the Surabaya-Bandung vv, with daily flights using a 
b737-500 with a seating capacity of 96 seats, comprising 12 in business 
class and 84 in economy class. GA 360 departs from Surabaya at 12.35 WIB
 and arrives in Bandung at 13.50 WIB. On the return flight, GA 361 
departs from Bandung at 14.35 WIB and arrives in Surabaya at 15.55 WIB.
West
 Java Governor, Ahmad Heryawan is pleased to welcome Garuda Indonesia’s 
innitiative as it will increase the flow of tourists and business 
travelers to Bandung, which will boost economy in the region. As one of 
Indonesia’s fast growing cities, Bandung is in need of the support of 
reliable air transport to other major cities in the country. “The new 
route will greatly facilitate the people of Bandung to go on business or
 leisure trips to Surabaya and other cities, or vice versa,” added Ahmad
 Heryawan.
Garuda Indonesia’s EVP Marketing & Sales,
 M. Arief Wibowo said that in addition to improving service to 
customers, the new service offers a wider range of traveling options to 
the public in the two cities. The opening of the new Bandung-Surabaya 
route also reflects Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to connect important 
cities in the archipelago, particularly Bandung which is a lucrative 
venue for tourism and business. Better connectivity between Bandung and 
Surabaya, and between other cities, such as Makassar and Denpasar, means
 stimulating local economies and increasing regional revenue,” added M. 
Arif Wibowo.    
Garuda Indonesia is also planning to 
open new international flight routes, among others Denpasar–Haneda in 
April 2012 and Jakarta–Taipei in May 2012, and increase flight frequency
 on the Jakarta–Kuala Lumpur service, from twice to three times daily, 
starting February 19, 2012. As part of the corporate network expansion 
program, Garuda Indonesia is also increasing flight frequency on 
domestic routes, such as Jakarta–Pekanbaru from five to six times daily;
 and on Jakarta–Batam route, from four to five times every day.
On
 the same occasion, Garuda Indonesia presented health aid to the 
community living in the vicinity of Husein Sastrawijaya Airport, in the 
form of: free medical treatment for 500 patients; health equipments for 
four integrated service stations (
posyandu); distribution of 
3000 cans of processed meat; as well as 500 sarongs. The event is part 
of the implementation of Garuda Indonesia’s CSR program and its care 
towards the less fortunate and needy members of society.
